The Notion app allows musicians to take their music compositions everywhere.\u00a0 I know I used it all the time.\u00a0 You can put it on both your desktop or your iPad.\u00a0 It\u2019s so easy to use.\u00a0 But one day, I noticed a big gap in my music software process\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Can you see what\u2019s missing? They had designed their software to be used by all folks, and it\u2019s become a favorite among film composers and radio and pop musicians. It combines the following functions:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">easy input<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">synchronized video-sound editing<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">top-notch playback functions<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But for all it does with its playback and editing options, it\u2019s missing an easy and effective way to scan existing sheet music for quick editing. These apps and programs sync across devices easily for portable use.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At this time, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/scan-score.com\/en\/products\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ScanScore<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is compatible with Windows and Mac computers. There is also an app smart-device extension available for download on the Google Play Store and at the App Store.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Side-Note:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> A QR code is required to use the ScanScore Capture app. You can find this code on your desktop when you click import from app\u2019 if you haven\u2019t paired a device before. Be sure you have both the app and the desktop software! You can\u2019t use the app without it.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>#2 Scan the Sheet Music<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After you\u2019ve downloaded both programs, it\u2019s time to scan your sheet music! Start by opening up your ScanScore program on your Windows or Mac computer. Once it\u2019s open, you\u2019ll be presented with three options for scanning your music. You can:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Use your scanner<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Import a file<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Scan with the app<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The scanner option allows you to use a scanner to capture the image of the sheet music. This is the most accurate way to get a good digital version of the score! That being said,\u00a0 it does require the extra piece of equipment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When using the \u201cImport from file\u201d method, it\u2019s important to remember that quality is key. The scan quality that you will get will depend on the quality of the image or PDF that you import. That being said, using this method is really helpful and fast if you already have an image of the music you want to edit.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The last option is scanning an image in with your smart device and the ScanScore app. Scanning music in with the app is the most convenient option. This method allows you to take a picture on your phone which is then sent straight to the ScanScore computer program.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Pro-tip: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To get the best results possible use a clear image\/scan. So with this in mind, when you take a picture using the app, have the sheet music well-lit. Take the image at an even, parallel angle.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>#3 Edit the Music<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Once you\u2019ve scanned the music, a side-by-side display of the original image and ScanScore\u2019s digital copy will appear. This is one of the most useful features of the program because it allows for a simple and direct comparison of the two pieces of music. You\u2019ll also see that zooming in on one side causes the display to simultaneously zoom in on the other side too.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Did you now know that you now know how to scan sheet music to midi? It\u2019s easy to compare between the original and digital versions.ScanScore helps users out by anticipating where things may have been altered.\u00a0 It highlights potential differences between scores in purple and blue, which makes it for you to check. When you\u2019ve found a set of pitches to edit, simply drag a box over the notes. Simply click the \u201cSave as\u201d option under the \u201cFile\u201d menu to save your work.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>#4 Export to MusicXML<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Once everything matches the original score, you need to export your music to an XML file. This file type is widely accepted by notation\/ editing programs like Notion, Sibelius, or Forte. To export, go to the left-hand side of the ScanScore interface. For there,\u00a0 select the \u201cexport\u201d button. You can now name and save the file.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Pro-tip: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It\u2019s important to save your file under a name you\u2019ll remember. Here\u2019s a useful format \u201c<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">piece_composer_part.\u201d <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For example: \u201cCarmen_Bizet_Oboe.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>#5 Import the File Into Notion<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Now open up the Notion program and follow these quick steps to import your XML into Notion:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Go to the Menu bar and select \u201cFile &gt; Import\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Using the browser, select your clearly labeled XML file<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Click \u201cOpen&#8221;<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Once it\u2019s open, you can adjust the layout! a bit.
