Learning how to playback scores once they\u2019ve been scanned or imported into our program is simple! When you open up or import a scanned score, the sheet music player automatically appears. Let\u2019s take a look closer at the toolbar so that we can locate the sheet music players\u2019 start, stop, and rewind buttons.\u00a0 In the center of the top toolbar, you can find three circles.\u00a0 From left to right, here are the buttons; play, stop, and rewind.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The play button is self-explanatory- click it and the music begins!\u00a0 Same with the middle (stop) button.\u00a0 When you click it, the music stops.\u00a0 But here\u2019s where it gets a tad bit trickier, so listen up.\u00a0 Simply hitting stop or play won\u2019t help you get back to the beginning on a long score.\u00a0 So that\u2019s when we need the third symbol in this section of the toolbar; rewind. The rewind button comes in handy when you are looking to go back to the beginning in order to restart the playback.\u00a0 The rewind button will always take you back to the beginning.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-32136 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/scan-score.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/Toolbar-1024x111.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"111\" srcset=\"https:\/\/scan-score.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/Toolbar-1024x111.png 1024w, https:\/\/scan-score.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/Toolbar-300x33.png 300w, https:\/\/scan-score.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/Toolbar-768x83.png 768w, https:\/\/scan-score.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/Toolbar.png 1246w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here are what the main three buttons look like more up close.\u00a0 To review; The button on the left is the play button.\u00a0 The middle is stop, and the third (right) is rewind.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-32130\" src=\"https:\/\/scan-score.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/playback.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"142\" height=\"77\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But you don\u2019t have to use only these three buttons.\u00a0 Want to start somewhere specific in your score? You can click on the note that you want the piece to start playing on.\u00a0 Simply hover your mouse over the right-hand score, and click where you want it to start.\u00a0 The note should turn blue, and blue lines on the left side of the other score will denote where you are. You can also use the spacebar to start and stop the music, instead of using the mouse all the time.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is just as easy (if not easier) to use this playback than on other sheet music players!\u00a0 With only three main playback buttons (and a simple shortcut) you won\u2019t have to fret over learning innumerable toolbar symbols like our competitors would have you do.\u00a0 Let\u2019s move on and chat about a few more key points relating to our sheet music player.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Using the Sheet Music Player to Catch Typos<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-32120 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/scan-score.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/adding-300x67.png\" alt=\"Tools\" width=\"300\" height=\"67\" srcset=\"https:\/\/scan-score.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/adding-300x67.png 300w, https:\/\/scan-score.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/adding.png 651w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You can use our playback tool to locate flaws in your score. It is much faster to recognize a sour note during playback than it is while glancing at staves upon staves in a large orchestral score.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you notice that the scan did not pick up some of the details or that you have made a typo,\u00a0 you can use the above tools to help fix the mistakes.\u00a0 To add slurs, click the eight-notes on the far right.\u00a0 Missing triplets or grace notes?\u00a0 The tools to adjust those are right next to the slur tool!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Missing rests can easily be added in with a click of the button.\u00a0 Just look to the left side, right below the sheet music player\u2019s tools.\u00a0 Accidentals (and even double-flats and sharps) can be edited into your score with the relevant symbols.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you\u2019re not finding the symbol you need, here\u2019s a pro tip.\u00a0 First, select the mouse symbol on the toolbar.\u00a0 Next, use your mouse to click on the following symbols: the quarter note, accent, T text symbol, bass clef, forte symbol, and repeat sign ( see top image for reference). We\u2019ve got you covered for just about everything, aside from Gregorian chants. (And who wants to hear a piece that is modeled after the same concept, over and over again anyway? Move over Pope Gregory, it\u2019s 2021!)<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">How to Put in a Tempo<\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When I first started using Scanscore, I didn\u2019t think about the lack of tempo markings in my older scanned pieces, such as with Bach or Handel.\u00a0 When I hit the space bar to start playing, the notes started pouring out at lighting speed.\u00a0 Uh oh! Speaking of Bach, where is our tempo? Nowhere to be found! Here\u2019s how to put in a tempo so that the sheet music player knows how to accurately playback your piece.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In order to put in a tempo, you first need to right-click on the right-hand score.\u00a0 The second option you\u2019ll see is \u2018change tempo\u2019.\u00a0 Go ahead and click it.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-32126 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/scan-score.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/metronome-mark-1024x581.png\" alt=\"How to Edit Tempo Markings\" width=\"1024\" height=\"581\" srcset=\"https:\/\/scan-score.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/metronome-mark-1024x581.png 1024w, https:\/\/scan-score.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/metronome-mark-300x170.png 300w, https:\/\/scan-score.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/metronome-mark-768x436.png 768w, https:\/\/scan-score.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/metronome-mark.png 1087w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Now you can see that the preset for scores with no tempo marking is set to 120- That\u2019s a little fast for an Allemande!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you want to see the tempo inside the score, click \u2018add bracket\u2019 down at the bottom.\u00a0 For our Allemande here, I\u2019m going to set it to an easy-going 70 BMP. Select the pre-existing tempo and delete it, then type in the tempo you desire. When you have entered the tempo you want to be played back, simply hit ok.
