Problem: Incorrect Playback of Measures
Sometimes, ScanScore does not play back certain measures correctly. Normally, this is indicated by a blue or green error mark, which is covered in our manuals and articles. However, in some cases, the playback sounds strange even though the note values and bar lines are correct.
This is often due to ScanScore choosing an incorrect time signature to fit all recognized notes. This can cause:
- Pickup measures (anacrusis) to be unrecognized or played incorrectly.
- Certain measures to appear too long or too short.
- The overall rhythm of the piece to sound unnatural.
Solution: Manually Adjust the Time Signature
If you encounter this issue, follow these steps to fix it:
-
Open the Organize Menu
- Click “Organize” in the menu bar or right-click to open the context menu.
- Click “Organize” in the menu bar or right-click to open the context menu.
-
Correct the Time Signature
- Select “Change Time Signature”.
- If a pickup measure is incorrect, temporarily set the time signature to 1/8 and enable “Do not display time signature.”
- If other measures do not play correctly, check the automatically chosen time signature and adjust it to match the actual meter.
-
Test the Playback
- Play the score to ensure the changes have resolved the issue.
